Abstract

Why This Moment Matters
At no time in our profession’s history has the ground shifted so decisively beneath us. The National Health Insurance Act of 2023 ushers in a new era in South African healthcare: one
where access becomes a universal promise rather than a privilege. It positions dentistry, long sidelined in public health discourse, at the centre of a collective reimagining of care delivery.
