CURRENT PRACTICES IN THE ASSESSMENT OF LOW MUSCLE TONE

Abstract

This study was directed towards identifying the clinical characteristics and methods and tests most frequently used amongst rehabilitation and medical professionals (occupational therapists, paediatricians and physiotherapists) in the clinical assessment of Hypotonia in the absence of a gold standard. An electronic survey was used to gather the current practices of a sample of 320 clinicians. Data was analysed using SPSS 18. Results are presented in the context of empirical literature.
